BMZ-backed holistic SCC capacity-building and empowerment project in Southern Province (training, introductory meetings, governance and leadership support).
The HASOP Project (supported by HelpAge Deutschland and BMZ) allocated EUR 133,333.25 for a holistic capacity-building approach targeting marginalised older people and Senior Citizens’ Committees (SCCs) across Southern Province districts (Galle, Matara, Hambantota). Activities included staff training on safeguards and HR, multiple introductory meetings with SCC members across DS divisions, leadership and governance training, and targeted community engagement. Participant lists and district-by-district meetings are shown in the report. The project runs from 1 Dec 2024 to 30 Nov 2025 and aims to strengthen local governance and the empowerment of elders.
