A monthly initiative funded by the Jaco Foundation (Canada) enabling 500 free cataract surgeries to restore sight, dignity, and independence.
The Free Cataract Surgery Project is a vital initiative sponsored by the Jaco Foundation (Canada) and coordinated through Amico Corporation. With a generous donation of USD 25,000, the project enables 500 free cataract surgeries every month for low-income elders.
The project operates on a split-service model: 300 surgeries are conducted at the HelpAge Eye Hospital in Wellawatte, while 200 are performed in partner government hospitals island-wide. This sponsorship covers surgical costs and lenses, directly contributing to the mission of eliminating preventable blindness and restoring dignity and independence to hundreds of seniors each month.
